Everyone, please be careful if you are still trying to travel for the holidays. It really doesn't look like this weather is letting up, plus it's... well, you all have seen the news, right?

I'm somewhat glad I mailed all my gifts out earlier, but I got a message from the post office saying the gifts will likely be delayed a few extra days, just from all the heavy weather. Eridan and I are staying in Cerulean for the time being, so please, nobody worry about us.

I also had a question, um.. is there such an item that makes it so a Pokemon doesn't evolve? Do you think, if it is real, that it is a good idea to use? Or is it wrong to make it impossible for a Pokemon to evolve?

[Kanaya isn't really going to argue the semantics of what happened. Sollux was an ass and everyone knew it, but Eridan was the one who had killed two people. She's quiet for a little while, her gaze distant.]

Karkat said you're good for him. Maybe it's true. But...you need to be careful. The people he hurt...the people he killed...Feferi was the only one of us who ever really tried to keep him from getting...I don't know...worse. And I was the only one left on the meteor helping him.

And he killed us both. He lashed out at the people who were helping him. That's you now.

[Nodding quietly, she simply thought on the words, soaking them in and understanding how much of a warning this is.]

I understand what you're doing, and I appreciate it. Thank you. I do want to give him the ability to change though.. because being this lonely is something I understand too. He wants friends, even if he thinks he's better than others, but I'd like to say I'm changing his mind about that. Even if it's only a little.

Your group are all fairly young still, and without any adults around to explain how things are supposed to go, just being expected to understand and work things out sounds ridiculous.

I...suppose. We have a whole romantic quadrant based around working things out. But how successful it is...

[She sighs. Kanaya didn't have the best luck in that respect.]

I assume someone has explained to you what a Moirail is?

Yes, for the most part. [She can't help a small sigh herself.]

Karkat has said for the better part of a few months that I've been moirailing for Eridan. I've said I just want to be friends, and help him overcome these problems of his. Moirail is a quadrant though, a different type of relationship, right?

Uh. Sort of. Karkat is the expert on this sort of thing, but...I have been trying to explain it to another human for a couple years now.

[Not that she knew how much success she had been having with Rose. Or what was even going on with Rose, exactly.]

Moirail is very similar to friendship. When a more...stable troll...decides to take it under their responsibility to keep a less stable, more dangerous troll from causing...significant damage to themselves or someone else. Or destroying their other relationships.

But in essence, human friendship can be similar. It's just not quite as...defined.

Similar enough to be considered that then. [Biting her lip in thought, Cheria finally just nods.] Then I suppose that's what I'm doing with him.

Yes. Honestly, I would tell another human dealing with a different troll not to give it too much concern. You can fall rather easily into quadrants and not really have to be too concerned about them, for the most part.

Eridan was...is...rather more obsessed with them. Or with filling them.

I can kind of tell. I do think a lot of it is from just being lonely, so hopefully.. so long as I don't disappear suddenly, he won't feel like that as much anymore.

I will. I have some pretty strong Pokemon of my own, too!

[She nods.] Right.

It's strange to think of having something else fighting his battle, but I guess, with no weapons here it's rather necessary...

It does take a bit of getting used to, and I have heard of some people who spar with their Pokemon.. but he isn't exactly the type to do that. So I'm pretty certain just keeping an electric or grass type Pokemon will be just fine, and I have both. Eridan only uses water type Pokemon, though he does have a bird and a ghost as well.. he just prefers the ones based on living in water.

[So if you're truly worried, get an electric or grass type, gurl :>]

[She actually laughs.] Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. He gets very stuck on specific ideas, and getting him away from them can be...impossible.

Ask him about science wands sometime.

[A thoughtful pause.]

Electric or grass. Right. I have a...grass, I think. Or plant? She's a Budew.

He does treat them well, even the ones that aren't water types, so I'm not too worried about making him change his mind. If he can do it despite those disadvantages, that just makes him have to think outside the box more on how to defeat his opponent!

Science wands.. wouldn't that be magic wands?

Budew? Hm, let me check.. [Getting her Pokedex out, have some data!] Budew, the Bud Pokemon. Sensitive to changing temperature, the bud is said to bloom when it feels the sun's warm touch. It evolves into Roselia when leveled up with high friendship during the day, and then into Roserade with a shiny stone.

[She might not be trying to destroy whatever Eridan And Cheria have, but that doesn't mean she can't cause a faint bit of trouble right?]

So she is a plant type. The blooming thing...I like that.

[She pats her little Budew on the head gently, and it coos. It never really leaves her alone, but she doesn't much mind.]

Doesn't believe the least bit in magic, even though this place is full of it, huh? I guess whatever works for him is fine!

[Trouble is what ... helps .......... right?]

Hee, she does sound like a really sweet Pokemon to have!

He's pretty stubborn.

She is. I'm still trying to name her though.

Hmm.. well, there are several names of flowers I could offer. Rose would be an option, though she would be a Roselia and a Roserade after evolving. Then there are others like Blossom, Daisy, Flora, and Iris, that are fairly popular.

I hadn't...perhaps after an Alternian flower. Someone suggested having a naming theme, but I don't think I am going to do that. It seems more appropriate to name each one after some defining feature.

Then I hope you get the chance to learn more about your Budew soon. They always seem so excited when they get their new name that just isn't the species name.

I would imagine. She answers to Plantbeast but I can't keep calling her that forever.

I will have to think of something soon. Do you have many of them?

I have a fair amount, about.. [Thinks a moment, listing the names in her head.] Twenty! It's funny how most of mine have wound up being water types too..

Do you look for a particular type, or do you just find ones you like as you travel?

Mostly just find ones I like as I go, but I always like cute ones? It's a little tough, a lot of normal types are super cute more often than not, haha!

I haven't really given much thought to any of the pokebeast breeding and collecting, beyond reading my gear.

I suppose I will have to determine where I will be traveling and then research what creatures are even available.
